COVID-19 UPDATES

CDC
NMDOH

JULY 29, 2020

Hello Mirasol Community,

The Covid 19 pandemic continues to challenge us all in many different ways. Our goal is to keep patients and staff  at Mirasol safe. To these ends,  we will continue to pre-screen all visitors prior to being admitted to the premises and again before every treatment.
When entering Mirasol, we ask that everyone please adhere to the following guidelines:
  • Wear a mask at all times
  • Keep 6 feet distance from others
  • Wash your hands before and after your physical therapy
  • Use hand sanitizer before and after using equipment
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow
  • Limit bringing family members/friends inside clinic

As a clinic we will continue to rigorously disinfect the facility  throughout the day. Additionally, we have rearranged the seating and equipment so that appropriate distancing can be  maintained.

Our current pre-screening process includes inquiring if you have tested positive within the last 10 days, or have been in close contact with someone who has in the last 14 days. Close contact is currently defined as any individual who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes, starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to positive specimen collection).

We encourage you to refer to the guidelines set forth by the CDC and the NMDOH regarding  quarantine or  self isolation recommendations. Through the understanding of  your individual situation, we can evaluate your physical therapy needs and the appropriateness of  in-person  and/or telehealth visits, specifically when considering  your acute pain and/or symptoms.

Whether you are a new or a returning patient, we have your best interest in mind. Together we will move forward and allow you to continue to have the best experience possible under the current pandemic situation. As always, we want you to attain your goals and return to function as soon as possible.
Please feel free to call or email us with any questions you may have, we would be more than happy to put your mind at rest.

We look forward to seeing you soon and hope that together we can keep you strong and healthy.

Best regards,
Nicole
COVID-19: Quarantine vs. Isolation

May 1, 2020

Hello Mirasol Community,

What a hot beginning to this beautiful and welcoming month of May!

As the Covid 19 pandemic continues to challenge us all in many different ways, there are some glimmers of hope and good news. While the Covid cases and death rates continue to rise nation and worldwide, they appear to be slowing and the curve to be flattening overall. It is reported that admission rates at many hospitals are declining and recoveries increasing.  Although we are not out of the woods yet, I believe New Mexicans appear to be doing an excellent job in mitigating this transmission.

Physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech language pathologists have recently been deemed as essential health care workers by the American Medical Association. Although our Governor has slightly loosened restrictions, NM is still largely a stay at home state until May 15.
With these factors in mind, and after careful consideration, Mirasol administration has decided to augment its current telehealth services and reopen its doors to one on one treatment sessions on Monday May 4, 2020.

We will continue to screen all visitors prior to being admitted to the premises and again before every treatment. We will require that you wear masks at all times and will have hand sanitizer and temperature monitoring available.

As a clinic we will continue to rigorously disinfect the facility, frequently throughout the day. Additionally, we have rearranged the seating and equipment so that appropriate distancing is maintained.  Furthermore, we will thoroughly assess together, your treatment options  and determine on a risk -benefit basis whether one on one treatment, telehealth or a combination of the two is best for you.

We need to continue to head warnings, not become complacent and continue to conduct ourselves respectfully; limit our movement within the community and when so, wear our masks, commit to  appropriate social distancing and continue to disinfect our environments.

So, whether you are a new or a returning patient, we have your best interest at mind. Together we will move forward and allow you to have the best experience possible under the current pandemic situation. As always, we want you to attain your goals and return to function as soon as possible.
Please feel free to call or email us with any questions you may have, we would be more than happy to put your mind at rest.

We look forward to seeing you soon and hope that together we keep you strong and healthy.

Best regards,
Nicole

April 8, 2020

Hello Mirasol community,

I hope that you are all staying well at home, making the best of your time with your family and pets during these very challenging times.

We continue to follow the Governor’s public health orders; the latest from April 6, 2020  which extends the stay at home policy through to April 30, 2020. To this effect we continue to provide telehealth services. Please contact us at 575-556-8440, information@mirasolrehab.net or nnovotny@mirasolrehab.net if you would like to set up an appointment with your physical therapist.

New patients and referrals are welcome and we will try to accommodate you as best as possible using telehealth services. We are considering one-on-one patient care for urgent cases and are considering these on a case per case basis. So please do not hesitate to contact us.

We anticipate opening our doors for direct patient care on May 4, 2020 and continue scheduling patients for these dates going forward. Therefore, please contact us to resume or begin your treatment.

Until then stay safe, stay informed and be well as you continue to practice social distancing and disinfecting techniques. Apparently it is working - based on current statistics and medical models, the prediction is not as dire as previously estimated. That is certainly good news!

Be well my friends and hope to see you at the clinic or around town again soon.

Best regards,
Nicole

March 27, 2020

Hello Mirasol Community,

These are probably the most difficult times I have experienced in my 30 plus years of practice. Many, if not all of our Mirasol community feel the same.
The new normal, for at least the next 2 weeks, is staying at home, balancing between work, family, health, financial challenges and rising anxiety about the unknown. I am with you.

Although our clinic is not seeing patients at our Missouri location for the next two weeks, until April 10, 2020 at least, I want you to know we can still be reached at (575) 556-8440, we will continue to accept faxes at 575 556-8439 and we will respond to  emails through the information@mirasolehab.net and nnovotny@mirasolrehab.net. As close as we possibly can, we will be following the governor’s executive orders, ensuring that we are all as safe as we can be.
Additionally, starting Monday March 30, 2020 to ensure the continuity of your care we will be available for Telehealth; please contact us through phone or email if you have questions, concerns or have an evolving situation with the current diagnosis you are being seen for at Mirasol; your physical therapist will contact you. Quite frankly, we welcome your calls and emails.

If you are a new patient, browsing our website, we hope to be available to see you as early as April 13, 2020, so don’t hesitate to call and provide us with your demographics and information, so that we may verify your benefits and schedule your appointment. Call if you have an urgent condition and we will do our best to see you, if possible. Please adhere to State and Federal directives when it comes going to urgent care or the emergency room for sprains, strains, acute joint, neck and LBP. We are very skilled at serving you for these conditions and we want to minimize your exposure to and transmission of this contagious virus.

If you have chosen to wait this out and return to physical therapy after the worst has passed and we have resumed our practice, so be it, I understand.
I need you to know that we haven’t forgotten about you and that we are here for you in these troubled times.

In the meantime, stay informed through the New Mexico Department of Health website, cdc.gov, WHO and las-cruces.org to mention a few. Please be safe and continue to practice social distancing and appropriate hand washing and disinfecting techniques. If not before, we look forward to seeing you one on one as early as 4/13/2020.

With much love, hope and courage I hope to see you soon.

Best regards,
Nicole
